Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden. 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
