The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 The heart [of the Prophet] did not misconstrue what he saw. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 And he certainly saw him in another descent 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 near unto the garden of promise. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25
