The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, "Stories of earlier men!" 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Yes indeed - they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 It is a repository of distinctly written record 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
