Surely the people of al-Hijr also rejected the Messengers, calling them liars. 80 We gave them Our signs, but they turned away from them. 81 And they used to carve dwellings in the hills, without fear. 82 But the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the morning hour, 83 So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn. 84 We did not create the heavens and the earth, and what is between them except in truth. The Hour is sure to come, therefore, forgive them with a gracious pardon. 85 For verily it is thy Lord who is the Master-Creator, knowing all things. 86 AND, INDEED, We have bestowed upon thee seven of the oft repeated [verses,] and [have, thus, laid open before thee] this sublime Qur'an: 87 Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers. 88 And say: "I am indeed he that warneth openly and without ambiguity,"- 89 Like (those) We had sent to those schismatics who slandered their Books 90 Those who have made the scripture bits. 91 Therefore, by your Lord, We shall question every one of them. 92 For that which they have been working. 93 Therefore declare openly what you are bidden and turn aside from the polytheists. 94 verily, We shall suffice thee against all who [now] deride [this message - all] 95 who set up another god with God, but they shall soon learn. 96 And indeed We know that you are disheartened by their speech. 97 Therefore celebrate the praise of your Lord, and be of those who make obeisance. 98 And serve thy Lord until there come unto thee the Hour that is Certain. 99
