The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
