The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
