And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 Do not betray me 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
