The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 and by the Book in lines 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the House inhabited 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
