The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
