The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the pages are made public 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the close of night, 17 and brightening morning, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
