Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 and that upon Him is the second creation 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, 50 And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life. 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 So there covered them that which covered. 54 Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 What is to come is imminent. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 While you are indulging in varieties. 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62
