Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets spread around. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
