Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they entered unto him, saying 'Peace!' he said 'Peace! You are a people unknown to me.' 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said, 'So says thy Lord; He is the All-wise, the All-knowing.' 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allah); 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 marked by your Lord for the sinful' 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. 40 And in Ad: When We sent upon them the destructive wind. 41 Which turned everything it touched to ashes. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking. 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
