The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Will pray for death, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
