Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
