Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 Then those (ships) that glide easily, 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 By the heaven with its passages, 7 You are indeed in different opinions regarding this Qur’an. 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 and in your selves; what, do you not see? 21 And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
