The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
