The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
