O believers, obey God and His Messenger, and do not turn away from him when you hear (him speak); 20 And be not like those who say: "We have heard," but they hear not. 21 ۞ The worst beasts before Allah are those who are deaf, dumb, and do not understand. 22 And had Allah known in them any good He would surely, have made them hear; but (being as they, are) even if He made them hear, they would have surely turned away in aversion. 23 O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered. 24 And beware of an affliction that will not smite exclusively those among you who have done wrong. Know that God is severe in exacting retribution. 25 And remember, when ye were few and reckoned feeble in the land, and were in fear lest men should extirpate you, how He gave you refuge, and strengthened you with His help, and made provision of good things for you, that haply ye might be thankful. 26 O you who believe, do not be faithless to God and His Apostle, nor violate your trusts knowingly. 27 and know that your worldly goods and your children are but a trial and a temptation, and that with God there is a tremendous reward. 28
