And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 "My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity." 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 "When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation." 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
