By no means! By the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 Warn the men. 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 except the people of the right hand 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
