The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
