Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). 3 And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 How many a Prophet We sent among the ancients, 6 But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier in courage than they. And the example of the ancients has passed away. 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 Who has made the earth a cradle for you and made thereon paths for you so that, hopefully, you may find your way 10 and who sent down out of heaven water in measure; and We revived thereby a land that was dead; even so you shall be brought forth; 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 So that you may properly mount their backs, and may remember your Lord’s favour when you have mounted them, and say, “Purity is to Him, Who has given this ride in our control, and we did not have the strength for it.” 13 It is to our Lord that we shall eventually return.” 14 But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful. 15
