The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 and by the promised Day, 2 By the witness and the witnessed! 3 destroyed were the people of the trench, 4 Of fire fuel-fed, 5 When they sat by it (fire), 6 And they were witnesses of what they did with the believers. 7 And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy, 8 to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Allah witnesses everything. 9 Those who persecuted the believing men and women and never repented, there is for them the punishment of Gehenna (Hell), and for them the punishment of the burning. 10 Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment. 11 Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord. 12 It is verily He who initiates and repeats. 13 He is the forgiving and the loving, 14 Owner of the Throne, the Exalted. 15 a sovereign doer of whatever He wills. 16 Has the story reached you of the hosts, 17 Of Pharaoh and the Thamud? 18 But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial, 19 And Allah encompasses them on every side. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 inscribed on a well-guarded Tablet. 22
