Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 In the plain Arabic language. 195 This is (indicated) in the Books of earlier people. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned men of the Israelites know it? 197 And had We sent it down upon a person other than an Arab, 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Quran) to enter the hearts of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 So that it will come upon them suddenly, when they perceive not. 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 And We did not destroy any town but it had (its) warners, 208 By way of reminder; and We never are unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 And warn your near relations, 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 and place thy trust in the Almighty, the Dispenser of Grace, 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 And your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before Allah. 219 He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They come down on every guilty impostor. 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 And that they say that which they do not? 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
