Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 "Be, then, conscious of God and pay heed unto me: 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 And orchards and springs. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 This has been happening all along. 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
