The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 thy robes purify 4 And stay away from idols. 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
