The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the star when it plunges, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 nor does he speak out of his own desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 and taught to him 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) during his other ascent 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 despite the fact that [both] the life to come and this present [one] belong to God [alone]? 25
