The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
