The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
