The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
