He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you attended to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
