Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
