Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 These are verses of the Book of Wisdom 2 for a guidance and a mercy to the good-doers 3 people who are steadfast in prayer, pay the religious tax, and have firm belief in the life to come. 4 It is they who are on guidance from their Lord, and only they are the successful. 5 Some men there are who buy diverting talk to lead astray from the way of God without knowledge, and to take it in mockery; those -- there awaits them a humbling chastisement. 6 When Our revelations are recited to them, they turn back on their heels out of pride as if they did not hear them or their ears had been sealed off. Warn them of the painful torment. 7 But for those who believe and do good works are Gardens of Bliss, 8 where they shall live for ever. The promise of Allah is the truth; He is the Almighty, the Wise. 9 He created the skies without a support, as you can see, and placed stabilisers in the earth that you may dwell at ease as it revolves; and dispersed on it all varieties of creatures, and He sent down water from the skies and grew all kinds of splendid things upon it. 10 Allah has created this – therefore show me what has been created by those other than Him; in fact the unjust are in open error. 11
