The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 (Among the idols) have you considered allat and al'uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25
