The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
