The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
