He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
