The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
