Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, weary, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a high Garden. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
