NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 we fed not the needy, 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
