If they belie you, say: 'I have my work, you have your work. You are quit of what I do, and I am quit of what you do' 41 And there are among them such as [pretend to] listen to thee: but canst thou cause the deaf to hearken even though they will not use their reason? 42 And among them are those who look at you. But can you guide the blind although they will not [attempt to] see? 43 Surely God does not wrong anyone; they wrong themselves. 44 (But today they are oblivious of everything except enjoyment of worldly life.) And on the Day when He will muster all men together, they will feel as though they had been in the world no more than an hour of the day to get acquainted with one another. (It will then become evident that) those who called the lie to meeting with Allah were utter losers and were not rightly-directed. underlies this sharp remark is the faint hope that perhaps such people would be shaken out of their slumber. 45 Whether We show you something of what We have promised them or cause you to die [before that], to Us they shall return. God is Witness to all that they do. 46 And in every nation was a Noble Messenger (from Allah); so when their Noble Messenger came to them, they were judged with fairness, and they were not wronged. 47 And they say: when cometh this promise, if ye say sooth? 48 Say, "I possess not for myself any harm or benefit except what Allah should will. For every nation is a [specified] term. When their time has come, then they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it]." 49 Say: "Have you ever thought if His punishment befalls you at night or in the day, what would the sinners do to despatch it? 50 Is it only when this chastisement has actually overtaken you that you will believe in it? (And when the chastisement will surprise you), you will try to get away from it, although it is you who had sought to hasten its coming.' 51 Then will the sinners be told: "Now taste everlasting torment. Should you be rewarded for anything else but what you did?" 52 They seek to be informed by thee: "Is that true?" Say: "Aye! by my Lord! it is the very truth! and ye cannot frustrate it!" 53
