The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
