The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Recompense fitted! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
