Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
