The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Certainly will the believers have succeeded: 1 Those who humbly cry in their prayers. 2 Who avoid vain talk; 3 and who are intent on inner purity; 4 and who are mindful of their chastity, 5 Except from their wives or the legal bondwomen that they possess, for then there is no blame upon them. 6 Those who desire to go beyond such limits they commit transgression, 7 And those who are keepers of their trusts and their covenant, 8 And who guard their prayers. 9 These are they who are the heirs, 10 that shall inherit Paradise; and in it they shall abide for ever. 11 And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth). 12 Then We made him a small seed in a firm resting-place, 13 Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create! 14 Thereafter you are destined to die, 15 Then you will be raised up again on the Resurrection Day. 16 We have indeed fashioned above you seven paths. Never were We unaware of the task of creation. 17 We have sent a measure of water from the sky to stay on earth and We have the power to take it away. 18 Then We brought forth for you therewith gardens of date-palm and vines; for you therein are fruits many, and thereof ye eat. 19 And a tree (olive) that springs forth from Mount Sinai, that grows oil, and (it is a) relish for the eaters. 20 And most surely there is a lesson for you in the cattle: We make you to drink of what is in their bellies, and you have in them many advantages and of them you eat, 21 and upon them, and on the ships, you are borne. 22
