۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
