۞ And when the example of the son of Maryam is given, your people laugh at it! 57 saying, "Are our gods better or him?" -- they cite him only to challenge you: they are a contentious people -- 58 He ['Iesa (Jesus)] was not more than a slave. We granted Our Favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel (i.e. his creation without a father). 59 And if it were Our Will, We would have [destroyed you (mankind) all, and] made angels to replace you on the earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol: 25, Page 89]. 60 And verily he is a sign of the Hour wherefore dubitate not thereof, and follow Me: this is the straight path. 61 And do not ever let the devil stop you; he is indeed your open enemy. 62 And when 'Iesa (Jesus) came with (Our) clear Proofs, he said: "I have come to you with Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) in which you differ, therefore fear Allah and obey me, 63 God is your Lord and my Lord, so worship Him. This is the right path". 64 But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day. 65 What are they waiting for – except the Last Day, that it may suddenly come upon them while they are unaware? 66 Friends will turn into enemies on that day, except those who fear and follow the straight path. 67
