The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 has created man, 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
