The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
